Work begins on Lake Barrington commercial district's new pedestrian pathway
Workers broke ground on a new pedestrian path that runs along Pepper Road from the Canlan Sportsplex south almost to Northwest Highway that village officials say will make the commercial area of Lake Barrington more walkable.
"The Pepper Road Pathway has long been an objective as part of the Village's Comprehensive Plan," said Kevin Richardson, Lake Barrington Village President, in a news release. "We believe it will benefit residents and businesses alike, allowing a more convenient route to the business park."
The pathway, which cost the village $157,903, will be just under three-quarters of a mile long. Businesses along the new pathway include The Onion Pub & Brewery, Wild Asparagus Catering and Pasquesi Home & Gardens, among others.
The project should be completed by June 15.
