Girls water polo: Rolling Meadows finishes as runner-up at St. Charles East

Rolling Meadows' girls water polo team added to a year filled with firsts by advancing to the championship game of St. Charles East's tournament on Saturday.

The Mustangs ended up losing to the host Saints 10-9 in the title matchup. To get into that slot, Rolling Meadows defeated Fremd 7-5 in the semifinals. It's the first win in school history against the Vikings, who are one win away from clinching an outright championship in the Mid-Suburban West.

Sarah Luedloff had 5 goals and Lizzie Hardt had 2 against Fremd.

Luedloff also led the way for Rolling Meadows (18-7) against St. Charles East with 4 goals, and she had 5 in a 6-4 victory against Homewood-Flossmoor.
