Naperville Battle of the Bands lineup announced

Some of the best rock bands from Naperville-area high schools will compete next month in the Naperville Park District Youth Ambassadors' 13th annual Battle of the Bands.

The free event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the Community Concert Center in Central Park, 104 E. Benton Ave.

The competing bands are: Second Grade, Neuqua Valley; Whatever You're Into, Neuqua; Hot Famales, Neuqua; Opaque Blind, Metea Valley and Neuqua; Manhattan Moonmen, Naperville North; The Works, Neuqua; Bunny Repellent, Naperville Central; The Flukes, Neuqua; and Something to Live By, Neuqua.

The first-place winner will perform at Naperville's Ribfest at a time to be determined and will advance to the Illinois Park District Association's Regional Battle of the Bands, with a chance to perform at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield.

The second- and third-place finishers will play at the Naperville Park District's Rollin' on the River series this summer on the Riverwalk.

The second-place band also will open for the Saturday, June 4, Barn Farewell Celebration, a free event to be held at the Barn Recreation Center, 421 W. Martin Ave.

Performances will be followed by the awarding of the top honors. The event is scheduled to conclude at 8 p.m.

Concert T-shirts listing all of the bands will be available for $15 at the event.
