Des Plaines to decide who has best curb appeal

Des Plaines residents are invited to enter the 3rd annual Mayor's Curb Appeal Challenge, a home improvement competition for the best looking and most improved front yards.

Registration has begun at desplaines.org/community/mayor/curb.htm and continues through June 25. The Des Plaines Garden Club will judge entries and name finalists, and the winners will be chosen in an online poll in July. First place winners in the two categories get $500 and second place wins $250, courtesy of Village Bank & Trust.

Coupons for 20 percent off are also available on the city website to use May 14-15 at Pesche's Flowers, Lurvey's Garden Center, Sherwin-Williams Paint, and Diamond Paint and Home Center.
