Big Noise Theatre presents 'Cabaret' through May 8 in Des Plaines
Big Noise Theatre Company presents the musical "Cabaret," April 22 through May 8 at the Prairie Lakes Theater, 515 E. Thacker St., Des Plaines.
The play is set in the infamous Kit Kat Klub in 1930s Berlin, where the emcee, the American singer Sally Bowles and a raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalize the crowd to "leave their troubles outside."
But as the Nazis take hold of Germany and life grows more uncertain, will the decadent allure of Berlin night life be enough to get them through?
Written by John Kander, Fred Ebb and Joe Masteroff, the score contains hits including "Willkommen," "Maybe This Time," and the title song, "Cabaret."
"Based on events that took place during a dark historical period, 'Cabaret' is a collection of brilliant sketches of a society in decay," said Director Brad Kisner. "Big Noise Theatre's production looks to realistically portray the individuals who lived during this time through the lens of a great American musical."
Performances are: 8 p.m. on April 22, 23, 29, 30, & May 6, 7; 3 p.m. on April 24, 30 & May 1, 7, 8; and 2 p.m. on May 4.
