'Illinoisan of the Day' nominees sought for state fair

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois State Fair Museum Foundation is looking for special people to spotlight each day of the 2016 state fair showcase.

The "Illinoisan of the Day" program honors people who exhibit integrity, dependability, a sense of community and strong ethics.

Nominees should be involved in service or educational activities, youth programs, agricultural groups and be affiliated with state or county fairs in Illinois. Continued volunteerism and community service is a must.

Those chosen will be at least 25 and residents of Illinois.

Each winner will be honored on his or her special day at the Illinois State Fair, Aug. 12-21.

The deadline for nominations is June 25.

Nomination forms are available by calling the museum foundation or by visiting its website.
