Huge Indy 500 graphic going up on Indianapolis hotel
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A multi-story graphic depicting an Indy car and the Indianapolis 500's Borg-Warner Trophy will greet visitors to downtown Indianapolis during the month of May.
The nearly 75,000-square-foot graphic celebrating the 100th running of the Indy 500 next month will adorn the exterior of the JW Marriott Indianapolis hotel.
The race host committee announced Monday the graphic will measure 246 feet wide by more than 300 feet tall. Installation of its 501 panels began Monday. The committee says full installation should be complete for most of the month of May.
The graphic is being installed by Indiana company Sport Graphics, which also created graphics hung from the same hotel for the 2012 Super Bowl and the 2015 Men's Final Four.
