Girls water polo: Elk Grove tops Hersey; Prospect clinches tie in MSL East
Elk Grove's girls water polo team outscored visiting Hersey 5-2 in the second half to claim an 8-5 victory on Tuesday in Mid-Suburban East play.
The result leaves Prospect in first place in the division and having clinched a tie for East title at 7-1, with Rolling Meadows and Hersey tied for second place at 5-3 with two league games remaining.
Freshman Kaylee Hatfield scored a team-high 4 goals for Elk Grove (8-11, 3-5), while Lilly Lawrin paced Elk Grove with 2 goals, 5 assists and 2 steals and Hannah Sallenbck generated 5 steals.
Prospect 7, Buffalo Grove 2: Colleen Doyle scored 3 goals to pace the Knights (11-8 overall), and Gracie Dix, Faye Barry, Nicole Greda and Connie Vuong each scored 1 goal.
Lauren Broz stopped 21 shots for Prospect.
Buffalo Grove (8-14, 4-4) got goals from Sarah Harner and Anna Gatley.
Maine West 11, Glenbrook North 4: Kristen Burger scored 6 goals and Annie Picchiotti had 3 to lift the Warriors in CSL North action.
