Baseball: Kolderup's 5-inning no-hitter fuels Fremd

Fremd 11, Hoffman Estates 0 (5 inn.): JT Kolderup tossed a 5-inning no-hitter to help visiting Fremd power past Hoffman Estates 11-0 in 5 innings in a Mid-Suburban West baseball matchup Monday.

Kolderup allowed just 1 base runner, on a hit by pitch.

Jake LaGasse, Ethan Hajdukovic and Justin Castillo (grand slam) each homered to propel a 15-hit hitting attack by Fremd (6-3, 3-1).

Hoffman Estates dropped to 5-6 overall and 0-4 in the MSL.

Elk Grove 5, Rolling Meadows 0: Starter Brett Taucher (4 hits over 5⅔ innings) and reliever Joe Lopez (1 hit over 1⅓) combined on a 5-hit shutout to lift host Elk Grove (6-5-1, 2-1-1).

Jack McEnroe doubled twice, finishing his day 3-for-3 with an RBI. Christian Camacho also had 3 hits for the Grens, which got doubles from Lopez and A.J. Navarro.

Hank Holm and Ellis Shalton both had 2 hits for Meadows (0-10, 0-4).

Buffalo Grove 8, Wheeling 5: The visiting Bison won again to remain unbeaten against Mid-Suburban League foes.

Leo Rule, Joey Pinakidis and Chase Marsh had 2 hits apiece for Buffalo Grove, and Kurt Kelly doubled and scored twice.

John Carpinelli (5 IP, 3 ER, 5 strikeouts) earned the win, and Jack Vaselaney tossed 2 scoreless relief innings to earn a save for Buffalo Grove (7-5, 3-0-1).

Drew Roberts delivered a 3-for-4 effort with a double for Wheeling (6-9, 1-3), and Alex Khatcherian and D.J. Godlewski both had 2 hits as the Wildcats finished with 13.

Palatine 7, Conant 5: The host Pirates lost the lead briefly in the top of the sixth, as Conant scored once to go ahead 4-3.

But Palatine answered with a 4-spot in the bottom half and went on to claim an MSL win.

Danny Schneberger had a solo homer in the Pirates' sixth, and Brendan Walker had an RBI single. Jack Grochowski and Zach Oles had 2 hits for Palatine (6-7, 3-1), and Chris Refka doubled twice. Schneberger paced a 10-hit effort with 3 hits.

Nick Roberts doubled twice for Conant (6-8, 1-3), which had 11 hits. Ryan Roberts finished 4-for-4 with a double.

Refka earned the win, and Charlie Van Dyke pitched 1 inning to earn a save.

Hersey 6, Prospect: The host Knights couldn't get much going against Hersey starter Matt Johnson, who struck out eight and gave up 5 singles and 1 walk in a complete-game win.

Brett Harris went 2-for-3 and scored 3 times from his leadoff spot, and Paul Tokar and Tanner Luke both drove in 2 runs for Hersey (4-8, 2-2).

Prospect (9-2, 2-2) got a double from Brendan O'Brien among its 5 hits.

Carmel 10, St. Viator 1: Carmel's Connor Pett was tough on the Lions, allowing them only 3 hits as the Corsairs won an East Suburban Catholic Conference matchup.

Dan Sullivan accounted for the scoring for St. Viator (10-5) with a solo homer in the fourth inning.

Maine West 4, Evanston 2: Sean Russell and Brad Uidl drove in 1 run apiece and Nick Stone had a pair of hits to lift the host Warriors (5-7) in a Central Suburban crossover.

Alex Zimmerman earned the win, allowing 2 runs over 5 innings. He struck out three, walked five and yielded 3 hits.

Leyden 14, Elmwood Park 0 (5 inn.): Adrian Perez hit a solo homer and Justin Borges had a pair of hits to help the Eagles (5-8) to a nonconference victory. Borges was also a force on the mound, as he earned the win after allowing 1 hit and striking out three in 5 innings.
