Ex-Secretary of State George Shultz to lecture at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Former Secretary of State George Shultz is making a visit to Purdue University for a lecture where he'll discuss a wide range of topics before a campus audience.

Purdue President Mitch Daniels will lead an hour-long discussion with the 95-year-old Shultz starting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the West Lafayette campus' Fowler Hall.

After that discussion, the audience will be able to ask questions during a question-and-answer session with Shultz. The event is free and open to the public.

Shultz, who's an economist, served in the Nixon administration first as secretary of labor, then as director of the Office of Management and Budget and finally as treasury secretary.

He also was secretary of state from 1982 to 1989 during the Reagan administration.
