16th annual Fox Trot 10K, 5K race steps off April 30

The Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation invites you to participate in the 16th annual Fox Trot 5K and 10K race Saturday, April 30, at the Batavia Riverwalk, Island Avenue and Houston Street.

Both races feature courses along the Fox River in downtown Batavia. The start time for both the 5K and 10K race is 8 a.m. There will be a warm-up led by PraxisFit at the Peg Bond Center prior to the race, and Dick Pond's also will be there for all of your running outfitting needs. The H.C. Storm Chorus will be starting the race off with the singing of the national anthem, and Batavia Academy of Dance will be performing as well. There will be an award presentation for the winners of both races in all age groups following the race.

The kids get to join in on the fun, too! The Fox Trot also features two noncompetitive Kids' Fun Runs beginning at approximately 8:45 a.m. with All Star Sports leading the kids' races. Preschoolers and children through first grade are encouraged to try the Junior Jog, approximately a quarter-mile. Second-graders to fifth-graders are encouraged to try the Youth Mile event.

Preregistration for all events is encouraged. The preregistration cost for the 5K is $30 per runner, and the preregistration cost for the 10K is $40 per runner. There is no charge for either Kids' Fun Run, but a donation of $10 per child is suggested.

Funds raised through this event will support local charities in the Fox Valley area, as well as Batavia schools. The first 300 registered participants are guaranteed a race tech shirt.

You may register online at www.signmeup.com/112254. In-person registration will also be accepted from 6:30 to 7:40 a.m. on race day at the event as well as at packet pickup on Friday, April 29. For more information or to register, visit www.bataviamothersclub.org.
