Judson to show documentary 'One Day After Peace' April 20

Judson University will screen the 2012 documentary film, "One Day After Peace," at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the Thulin Performance Hall in the Thompson Center, 1151 N. State St., Elgin. The event is free and open to the public.

The documentary chronicles an Israeli mother's search for reconciliation with the Palestinian man who shot her son and the peace movement born from this search.

The film will be shown as part of Judson's Reel Conversations film series that pairs film screenings with follow-up discussions with Judson administrators and faculty members. Judson students who attend receive chapel credit.

Professor Mike McKeever, who directs the film series and is chair of biblical and theological studies, will introduce the film and moderate the discussion.

"Last April, I was invited to participate in a study tour of Israel/Palestine with The Telos Group, a community of American, Israeli and Palestinian peacemakers working toward the security, dignity and freedom of all living in the Holy Land," Dr. McKeever explained. "It was an amazing journey of unforgettable encounters with people working for peace in the region. One group that best epitomizes this extraordinary movement would be The Parents Circle, a grassroots organization of Palestinian and Israeli families that have lost immediate family members in the conflict. Members of The Parents Circle are pursuing a remarkable process of reconciliation that is laying a foundation for a sustained peace, and "One Day After Peace" provides a unique window into their incredible story."
