Grand jury clears 2 officers in fatal shooting of naked man

MADISON, Ind. (AP) - A grand jury in southeastern Indiana has cleared two sheriff's deputies involved in a deadly shooting of an unarmed naked man who charged at them.

The Madison Courier reports (http://bit.ly/1RYJbBv ) the six-person Jefferson County grand jury heard evidence Wednesday and was allowed to ask questions.

The panel decided against indicting Deputy Patrick Finnegan and Deputy Linton Spry in the shooting of 43-year-old John Unsworth.

Indiana State Police have said Unsworth was charging deputies in a "highly agitated manner" after being struck with several charges from a stun gun and ignoring officers' verbal commands. An autopsy found Unsworth had narcotics in his system.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies were responding to a disturbance in August last year at a house in Hanover, about 40 miles northeast of Louisville, Kentucky.
