Fremont Library to host Money Smart Week programs
Fremont Public Library in Mundelein will host four free programs during Money Smart Week, April 23-30. Money Smart Week is an annual public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances.
• Understanding Medicare will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 25. Signing up for Medicare can be confusing. This workshop will address how Medicare works, its various parts, and supplemental plans. Senior benefit advisor Mike Altman will present the program.
• 10 Steps to a Smarter Tax Return will be offered at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26. You just filed your taxes. What can you do now to prepare for next year? Learn to make smart choices about when and how you save for retirement or college, use employer benefits, pay taxes on your investments, and more. Karen Chan, a certified financial planner, will present the program.
• Strategies to Maximize Your Social Security Income will be offered at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 26. In this 90-minute workshop, learn about the various Social Security claiming strategies that are available. Also, learn about changes in Social Security that go into effect May 1. Presenter Sev Meneshian is a certified financial planner and an adjunct professor of retirement and estate planning at Northwestern University.
• Long-Term Care Planning takes place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27. One's assets can rapidly be depleted by a debilitating illness or injury. Gain a better understanding of what causes a long-term care event, the types of care available and costs, and learn strategies for protecting your assets. Presenters will be Eric Rosenbloom and Brandon Clouse, GCG Financial, and Eugene Roginsky, LifeCare.
