Baseball: Engquist, Molini power another Prospect win
Trevor Engquist homered for the second straight day and Ryan Molini produced a 4-for-4 performance at the plate as Prospect's baseball team improved to 7-0 with a 5-1 victory over host Glenbard East in nonconference play Tuesday.
Knights starter Grant Zellmer allowed 2 hits and no runs over 4 innings. Neither of Prospect's relievers - Tim Krause and Jake Arndt - allowed a hit.
Travis Gates drove in 2 runs for the Knights.
Maine West 4, Niles West 3: The host Warriors from a 2-run deficit, scoring 3 runs in the fifth inning to take the lead in a Central Suburban crossover contest.
Nick Stone drove in 2 runs in the fifth inning. Sam Kindle pitched the first 5 innings and earned the win, and reliever Matt Willett picked up a save by tossing the last two innings for Maine West (3-5).
Wheeling 6, Elgin 5: The host Wildcats improved to 6-5 with a nonconference win as Patrick Cooney pitched 3⅔ scoreless relief innings.
Drew Roberts had 2 hits, one of them a double, and Brian Maloney drove in 2 runs for Wheeling
Wheaton North 7, Conant 6: Jimmy Brady produced a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, and Jake Lunkes and Jack Reiger both had a pair of hits, but the visiting Cougars (2-6) came up a run short in nonconference play.
