Dozens of vehicles damaged by metal on Indianapolis highway
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Dozens of vehicles had their tires flattened on an Indianapolis highway after police say shredded scrap metal fell from a semitrailer.
Indiana State Police say the debris slowed Tuesday morning's commuter traffic as highway crews needed more than an hour to clean up the mess on a ramp from Interstate 70 and onto Interstate 465 on the city's southwest side.
Sgt. John Perrine says the debris caused flat tires on an estimated 40 to 50 vehicles. He says troopers found the truck and ticketed the driver for not having the trailer's tailgate properly secured.
No injuries were reported.
