Girls track and field: McLaurin leads the way for Barrington
Barrington's girls track and field team scored 89 points to power past Wheeling (57) and Conant (35) in a Mid-Suburban League triangular meet on Tuesday.
Kelsey McLaurin was a triple winner for the Fillies, claiming top efforts in the 100 dash (13.0), the 400 (1:02.9) and the 200 (27.1).
A.J. Zepada won the 100 high hurdles for Wheeling (17.4), and Barrington's Sara Kate Capel took the 300 hurdles (48.5).
Conant scored a win in the 1,600, where freshman Kayla Wartman prevaield in 5:39.1.
Prospect tops Elk Grove, Schaumburg: Prospect's girls track and field team came up with a dominant showing in a Mid-Suburban League triangular meet with visiting Elk Grove and Schaumburg on Tuesday.
The Knights finished with 108 points, with Schaumburg coming in a 46 and Elk Grove at 20.
Cassidy Selep won three events - high jump, 300 hurdles, pole vault - and Maya Mason (100 hurdles, 200 dash) was a double individual winner. Prospect also won three relays.
Schaumburg had a double winner in Lauren Kubinski (800, 1,600), and Elk Grove's Inga Augstinias won the discus (100-4).
Hersey defeats Palatine, Hoffman Estates: Grace Picchiotti had winning efforts in the 110 high hurdles (17.8) and in the triple jump (30-10) to help Hersey produce 72 points to top Palatine (60) and Hoffman Estates (53) in an MSL triangular.
The Huskies' field winners included Barbara Rydzewski (discus, 104-5) and Maggie Berigan (shot, 34-1).
Among Palatine's winners were Kelly O'Brien (1,600) and Corey Rinella (300 hurdles), and Hoffman Estates got triumphs from Alexis Brown (100) and Katie Bonney (400).
