Softball: St. Charles East remains undefeated

The St. Charles East softball team moved to 6-0 on the season Monday with a 14-4 nonconference win over Naperville North.

Jordan Hieber led the Saints' offense, going 4-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Also contributing were Sarah Kreiner (2 hits), Katie Kolb (2 hits, 2 RBI), Rylee Stout (3 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Delaney Devor (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Jordan Hall (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI) and Paige Logocki (2 hits, 2 RBI). Hall was the winning pitcher, allowing just 5 hits.

Elgin 3, Addison Trail 2: Jessic Rago hit a 2-run home run and was the winning pitcher with 14 strikeouts and no walks as the Maroons won in nonconference action. Freshman Lexi Ruiz had the game-winning double for Elgin (2-4) in the bottom of the seventh inning and Rachel Turner added 2 hits and scored the winning run.

Dundee-Crown 2, Prairie Ridge 1: Sydney Ruggles struck out 9, walked 1 and allowed just 3 hits to lead the Chargers (4-4) to a Fox Valley Conference crossover win. Andrea Conway had 2 doubles for D-C and Ruggles had 2 hits with 2 RBI.

Morris 2, Kaneland 0: Meg Cohrs had a double for the Knights (6-4, 0-2) in a Northern Illinouis Big XII loss. Aly Jesionowski took the loss in the circle, allowing 6 hits with 5 strikeouts and no walks.

ACC 4, Timothy Christian 0: Paige Miller fired a 2-hitter with 13 strikeouts and 3 walks to lead the Chargers (6-4) to a nonconference win. Dani Brown had 2 hits with a double and an RBI for Aurora Central.

St. Charles North 9, South Elgin 2: Samantha Hausl went 4-for-4 with a double and Samantha Vaca was 3-for-4 with a double to lead the North Stars to an Upstate Eight crossover win. Also contributing for SCN were Allison Moberg (2 hits, HR), Alyssa Eby (2 hits, RBI), Jillian Waslawski (2B, 2 RBI) and Allison Hausl (2B, RBI). Madeline Webb was the winning pitcher. Alissa Hargett and Hannah Gordon (2B) had 2 hits each for South Elgin (2-7).

Cary-Grove 6, Woodstock North 5: Alyssa Gurgone went 2-for-3 with a triple and 3 RBI as the Trojans (2-4) won this FVC crossover. Alea Charlier added 2 hits for C-G and Rachel Stanley had 2 RBI. Emma Hill picked up the win in the circle.

Glenbard East 20, Larkin 5: In an Upstate Eight crossover, Haley Bohne had 2 doubles and 2 RBI and Sophie Young added 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI for Larkin.

Burlington Central 12, Streamwood 5: Kelly Wiater went 4-for-5 with a double and 4 RBI and Emily Kisch was 3-for-5 as the Rockets (7-1) won in nonconference action. Kristina Ahlers (3 RBI), Danielle Yurgil (2 hits, RBI), Jill Neisendorf (2B) and Sarah Kinney (2 hits) also contributed for BC and Ashley Ratliff was the winning pitcher. Jessica Daley had 2 hits with a home run and 2 RBI for Streamwood (3-4) while Rebecca Daley added 3 hits with a double.

Huntley 10, Hampshire 6: Rylie Porretto had 3 hits and 5 RBI and winning pitcher Tiffany Giese added 3 hits for Huntley (3-3) in this FVC crossover. Also for Huntley, Jessica Shields had 2 hits, an RBI and 5 stolen bases, Haley O'Mara a double and 2 RBI, Taylor Pacana 2 hits, Autumn Kasal 2 hits and Caitlyn Brown a triple and an RBI. Losing pitcher Jasmine Lopez had 2 hits and 2 RBI for Hampshire while Aly Snider had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Renee Malecki 2 hits and Sarah Bowen a double and an RBI.

Grayslake Central 10, Jacobs 5: Emily Borg hit 2 home runs and had 3 RBI while Kerri Healy added a home run, a double and 2 RBI for Jacobs (0-1) in an FVC crossover loss. Sarah Murray also had a double for the Golden Eagles.

Ridgewood 1, St. Edward 0: Devyn Ernst, Allie Stratman and Lindsay Zdroik had the only hits for the Green Wave (1-1) in this Metro Suburban crossover loss.
