Baseball: Dundee-Crown tops Hampshire

Sean Jay had 3 hits and winning pitcher Danny Denz added 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI Monday to lead the Dundee-Crown baseball team to an 8-5 Fox Valley Conference crossover win against Hampshire.

Denz struck out 10, walked 3 and allowed just 4 hits in 5⅔ innings.

Taylor Schmidt added a double for the Chargers (6-4).

Carter Lawler had 2 hits with a double and an RBI for Hampshire (5-5) while Noah Schrader and Tyler Maglaya added doubles. Jacob Manning suffered the loss on the mound for the Whip-Purs.

Geneva 8, Streamwood 2: Jack Wassel was 3-for-3 with a double while Justin Hasegawa, Joshua Rose (2 hits, RBI) and Jeremy Davis (2 hits) each added doubles to lead the Vikings to an Upstate Eight River win. Mitchell Merges picked up the win on the mound, going 5 innings and allowing 3 hits with 9 strikeouts. Adam Sojda had 2 hits for Streamwood (1-6, 0-3) and Colin Caminitti was the losing pitcher.

Prairie Ridge 5, Kaneland 3: Jack Marshall was 3-for-4 and Joe Laudont had a double and an RBI for Kaneland in this nonconference loss. Matt O'Sullivan took the loss for the Knights (1-3).

St. Charles East 10, Bartlett 8: Austin Gift (2B), Kyle Tiltges (RBI) and John Dellostritto (2 RBI) each had 3 hits to lead the Saints (5-3) to an Upstate Eight win. Anthony Adduci added a double and an RBI for SCE and Corbin Marucco had 2 hits and an RBI. Shawn Ligocki picked up the win on the mound. Brad Nowak (2 RBI) homered for Bartlett while Cameron Mays, Tripp Paris (2B), Mike Prang (2B, RBI) and Kyle Kucharski (2 RBI) each had 2 hits. Paris suffered the loss on the mound for the Hawks (2-6).

CL South 16, Woodstock 9: Nick Wolski had 2 hits with a home run and 4 RBI as the Gators stayed unbeaten on the season with this FVC crossover win. Also contributing for Crystal Lake South were Griffin Bright (3 hits, 2B), Michael Humphrey (3 hits, RBI), Nick Van Witzenburg (2 hits, 2 RBI), Cam Geisser (3B, 2 RBI), Michael Swiatly (2 hits, 3 RBI) and Tyler Carlson (3 hits, RBI). Tim Siesennop got the win in relief for CLS (7-0).

West Aurora 11, West Chicago 10: Ryan Becker had 3 hits including 2 doubles and an RBI and Matt Desjardine added 3 hits with a double and 3 RBI to lead the Blackhawks (2-4) to an Upstate Eight crossover win. Logan Love (RBI) and Jake Arsenault (RBI) also had doubles for West Aurora and Win Kipp was the winning pitcher.

ACC 10, St. Edward 0: Sean Sinisko fired a 2-hitter with 9 strikeouts and 1 walk to lead the Chargers (8-4, 2-1) to a Metro Suburban West win. Johnny Belskis (2 hits), Ryan Poplawski (2 hits, 2B, 4 RBI) and Michael Rivas (2B, RBI) led the Aurora Central offense. Tyler Holte and Ben Harrington had hits for St. Edward (2-7, 0-4).

St. Ignatius 8, Marmion 6: Brandon McPherson had 2 hits with a triple and 2 RBI for Marmion (1-3, 1-1) in its CCL loss.

Burlington Central 13, Marengo 3: Craig Schuring had 2 hits including a home run and John Murphy added 3 hits with 2 doubles and 2 RBI to lead the Rockets (4-5, 2-0) to a Big Northern East win. Paddy McKermitt added 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI, Clay Milas had 2 RBI and David Lauber 2 hits and an RBI for BC. Milas was the winning pitcher.

St. Francis 8, Aurora Christian 2: Drew Wagner (3 hits, 2B), Dustin Barrett (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Tanner Dissell (2 hits) led Aurora Christian (5-2) in this nonconference loss.

Huntley 4, Grayslake Central 1: In an FVC crossover, Alec Coss went 3-for-3 with 2 doubles to lead Huntley (6-4). Cam Reed was the winning pitcher in relief.

Elgin Academy 4, Westminster Christian 3: Ian Wilson (2B), Andrew Wilson and Kevin Kuykendall each had 2 hits for Elgin Academy (8-3) in this nonconference win. Jonathan Cruz was the winning pitcher. Ian Merlak had 3 hits for Westminster (3-10).
