Arlington Heights Electronic Recycling, Document Shredding Event Saturday, April 30

It's time to get rid of old electronics, piles of documents you no longer need or old bicycles at the Arlington Heights Spring Sweep event, Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m.-noon in the parking lot of Arlington Park Race Track, 2200 W. Euclid Ave., behind the train station at the southwest corner of Northwest Highway and N. Wilke Road. Those attending the event should enter the Racetrack parking lot via N. Wilke Road.

The event includes electronics (see below for a list of acceptable items), document destruction (up to three legal-sized boxes per vehicle) and the collection of old, usable bikes. Residents from the suburban area are welcome to participate.

The event is sponsored by the Village of Arlington Heights Special Events Commission, the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC). Thanks to Arlington Park for the generous use of their parking lot.

The Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) will oversee the electronic recycling. No electronic materials from schools, businesses or other institutions is permitted. Information on SWANCC's electronic recycling sites and events can be found at www.swancc.org.

Here's a list of acceptable items that will be collected: Answering machines; cable receiver; calculators; camcorders; cameras; converter box; computer cable; computer monitors; computers (desktops, Notebooks, tablets); copy machines; DVD player or similar video device; fax machines; mobile telephones; mouse or keyboards; MP3 players; portable digital assistants (PDAs); power tools or cords; printers (including multi-function printer, copiers and printer/fax combinations); satellite receiver; scanners; shredders; small home appliances (microwaves, toasters, blenders, vacuum cleaners, mini refrigerators); stereo equipment; telephones; televisions (no size limit); typewriters; video game consoles; videocassette recorder/player (VHS); Zip drives.
