Okubo scores 159th career goal as Kawasaki beats Sagan Tosu
TOKYO (AP) - Yoshito Okubo scored a record 159th career goal as Kawasaki Frontale defeated Sagan Tosu 1-0 to move into first place in the J-League standings.
Okubo broke the deadlock with a header in stoppage time Sunday as Kawasaki improved to 14 points, one ahead of Urawa Reds, which was held to a scoreless draw by Yokohama F Marinos.
Okubo moved ahead of Hiroshima's Hisato Sato for the most goals in J-League history.
In other matches, Vissel Kobe and promoted Avispa Fukuoka ended goalless while Jin Izumisawa scored the winner as Omiya Ardija came from a goal down to beat Nagoya Grampus 2-1.
Gamba Osaka topped Vegalta Sendai 3-1 and Ventforet Kofu defeated Shonan Bellmare by the same score.
Brazilian Caio scored a pair of goals as Kashima Antlers thrashed defending champions Hiroshima 4-1.
