Softball: Stevenson swings into action, edges Vernon Hills

Mic Faunce went 4-for-5 with a double, triple and 5 RBI, and Stevenson's softball team outslugged Vernon Hills 16-12 in a North Suburban Conference crossover on Thursday.

Alyssa Pauly also drove in 5 runs for the Patriots, as she and Trisha Porzycki were both 3-for-6. Vera Pflugradt, Emma Oriatti, Gina Shanley and Alana Labaschin each had 2 hits. Pflugradt, Porzycki, Pauly and Shanley also doubled. One of Oriatti's hits was a triple.

Stevenson outhit Vernon Hills 19-16.

Danielle Comitor led the Cougars' attack, as she hit a grand slam and drove in 5 runs, while going 2-for-4. Dana Meline was 4-for-4, and Delaney Bowen went 3-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI. Vernon Hills got other two-hit games from Nicole Pieper, Sara Lenzi (triple, 3 RBI) and Tatiana Guletsky.

Libertyville 15, Round Lake 0: Hannah Heraty pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out six and walking one in the North Suburban crossover.

Jessie Lauret led the offense for Libertyville (6-1), going 4-for-5 with 3 RBI, while Lyndsey Lyons was 2-for-3 with a homer and 3 RBI. Sam Hilldale was 2-for-3, driving in 2 runs, and Jamie Stevens had a double and 2 RBI.
