Porter County man convicted of killing wife gets 55 years
VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) - A northwestern Indiana man convicted of fatally shooting his wife in the head has been sentenced to 55 years in prison.
A judge sentenced 36-year-old Steven Lindsey of rural Valparaiso Friday after he was convicted of murder last month in the January 2015 death of 23-year-old Melinda Lindsey.
The (Munster) Times reports (http://bit.ly/1MZpMQD ) Lindsey declined to comment at the sentencing except to say he planned to appeal. He has denied he killed his wife and said the couple was attacked in a home invasion.
Prosecutors have alleged Lindsey shot his wife in the head as she lay in because he feared she would leave him.
