Woman's car stolen at knifepoint in Waukegan
A woman was the victim of a carjacking Thursday morning in Waukegan, police said.
The victim was parking a carabout 9 a.m. in the area of Clayton Street and North Genesee Street when she was approached by a man who displayed a knife, Waukegan police said in a news release.
After a brief struggle, the victim was able to flee with very minor injuries, police said. The vehicle, a silver, four-door 2004 Hyundai Elantra, was last seen headed south on North Genesee Street.
The carjacker is described as a dark-skinned man, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, with medium build and wearing a gray hoodie and sweatsuit. The vehicle's license plate is being withheld to protect the victim's identity, police said.
