Franklin College closes fraternity after charter suspension

FRANKLIN, Ind. (AP) - Franklin College has announced a fraternity there has closed after its national council suspended its charter.

The college said in a news release Thursday that Phi Delta Theta Fraternity was shut down on Wednesday and students are required to move out as soon as possible. The university said the fraternity's national council voted to suspend the charter, citing the chapter's risk management violations and failing chapter operations.

The college previously took action on students' misconduct and is continuing to investigate allegations of student misconduct. The college did not disclose details of the alleged misconduct.

Franklin College President Thomas Minar said in the college is committed to Greek organizations that live out the college's mission and values.
