St. Charles East senior to celebrate Eagle Scout rank April 17

James M. Vicicondi of Boy Scout Troop 13 in St. Charles will celebrate receiving his Eagle Scout rank at a Court of Honor at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Charles.

Vicicondi is a senior at St. Charles East High School, where he has played football the last four years as defensive tackle and end; the last two years at varsity level. He was also in wrestling and worked on the yearbook club. He is currently involved with Project Lead The Way at St. Charles East and have received recognition from the department for his outstanding work and dedication.

As a Boy Scout, over six-and a half years and three different troops, he has attended nearly 30 campouts, summer camp almost every summer, and high adventure to Sea Base in the Florida Keys. In addition to many hiking hours and nights of camping, he has proudly walked in almost every Memorial Day parade, placed flags at the graves of our fallen and proudly spent time with veterans. He has earned 25 valuable merit badges. He has served as his patrol's quartermaster, assistant patrol leader and patrol leader.

For his Eagle Project, he designed five handicapped picnic tables for the Marklund facility in Bloomingdale and successfully built all five over the course of two weekends, with the help of other scouts and volunteers. All five table were successfully delivered to the Bloomingdale facility just days before Christmas 2015.

Vicicondi said, "Finally, I can proudly say I was able to use the leadership skills I've learned over the course of my scouting career and at the same time be a key player in the teamwork that it took to complete this project. It is an experience that I will carry with me for the rest of my life."
