Pipe bomb found in Lafayette apartment, evacuation ordered

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Lafayette police say an evacuation was ordered after officers found a pipe bomb in an apartment.

Lafayette Sergeant B.T. Brown says police were responding to a domestic dispute Monday evening and found the bomb after obtaining a search warrant. Apartments in the surrounding area were evacuated.

The Tippecanoe County Bomb Squad was called and the bomb was diffused at about 10 p.m. Residents were allowed to return to their homes around 10:30 p.m.

No charges have been filed in connection with the bomb. There were no injuries.
