Nobody injured in West Dundee fire
No one was injured in what fire officials say was a small porch fire at a West Dundee home.
About 1:45 p.m. Monday, the owner of a home on the 600 block of South Second Street called 911 when she saw smoke coming from a wall outlet, according to a news release from the West Dundee Fire Department.
Fire crews arrived at the scene and noticed flames in an enclosed porch, officials said. The fire, which caused about $1,500 in damage, was contained to the porch and was extinguished within four minutes.
Officials listed the cause of the fire as electrical. Fire Chief Randy Freise said the home is still habitable.
The East Dundee and Rutland-Dundee fire protection districts, along with the Carpentersville Fire Department, also responded.
