A handful of street robberies took place Sunday in Waukegan and police say they're investigating whether there's a connection between them.
The robberies took place at different times throughout the day and involve different suspect and vehicle descriptions, Waukegan police said in a news release.
The first robbery took place at 11:40 a.m. on the 100 block of Philippa Avenue, police said. The victim told police he was approached by a Hispanic and a black man who were in a black Chevrolet Impala. They demanded an undisclosed amount of money and then drove off in the vehicle.
The second robbery happened at 6:30 p.m. at Carmen Buckner School, 520 Helmholz Ave. The victim told police he was playing soccer at the school and as he went to leave was approached by a small brown SUV carrying several Hispanic teens, police said. The teens took some of the victim's personal property and fled. He was not injured.
A third robbery took place at 8:55 p.m. A male victim said he was walking in the 1400 block of Lloyd Avenue when he was approached by four or five men in a blue van. The men took money and personal property from the victim, who attempted to flee and suffered minor injuries.
