Stock indexes are mostly lower in early trading

Stock indexes are mostly lower in early trading and several companies are moving on deals and other news.
Virgin America jumped 40 percent in the first few minutes of trading Monday after agreeing to be acquired by Alaska Air. Alaska Air sank 5 percent.
Edwards Lifesciences jumped 16 percent after the company's new replacement heart valve met its goals in a clinical trial.
The Dow Jones industrial average edged down 25 points, or 0.2 percent, to 17,761 as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index gave up three points, or 0.2 percent, to 2,069. The Nasdaq composite moved down nine points, or 0.2 percent, to 4,906.
Bond prices didn't move much. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note held steady at 1.77 percent.
