Baseball: Morgan pitches Huntley to victory

Huntley scored 3 runs in the first and 2 in the second and that's all the offense the Red Raiders needed in a 5-1 win over Rockford Boylan on Monday.

Kyle Morgan got the win going 5 innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 unearned run while striking out 7 and walking none. Cam Reed pitched the final 2 innings, striking out 3.

Jeff Heinrich paced the 8-hit attack going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Leadoff hitter Tyler Koss scored twice and Noah Konie had 2 RBI.

Elgin Academy 5, Crossroads Christian 3: Johnathan Cruz struck out 4 in 3 innings, and Justin King finished the final 4 innings with 3 strikeouts as Elgin Academy improved to 4-0.

Karl Rauschenberg had 2 hits, 2 RBI and stole 4 bases, Ian Wilson added 2 RBI, and Andrew Wilson drove home a run on a sacrifice fly.

Cary-Grove 12, Marian Central Catholic 5: Tom Neilson and Dominic Calamari both had 2 RBI for the Trojans while Tyler Pennington blasted a home run and Mark Smith doubled.

Matt McCumber earned the win in relief, pitching 2 1/3 scoreless innings.
