Baseball: Aurora Central splits on final day of spring trip

Jimmy Laurenti led Aurora Central Catholic to an 8-6 win over Revere, Ohio on Saturday by reaching base 3 times, scoring 3 runs and driving in another.

After Laurenti single scored Kyle Nilo in the fourth inning, Jake Smith's blasted a 3-run homer, scoring Johnny Belskis and Laurenti.

John Cosgrave recorded the win allowing 3 runs over 6 innings.

Chattanooga (TN) 5, Aurora Central Catholic 3: The Chargers scored 3 times in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead before allowing a run in the bottom of the sixth and two in the seventh.

Jimmy Laurenti and Jake Smith both went 2-for-4 to pace Aurora Central's 7-hit attack.

Mario Magana was the hard-luck loser, pitching 7 2/3 innings and striking out 8 and walking just 2.

Harvest Christian 2, Cerro Gordo 0: Drew Lewis drove in the only 2 runs of the game and had Harvest Christian's only hit. Dayne Frederick and Zach Pawelek scored runs for the Lions.

Farina South Central 3, Westminster Christian 2: Tyler Schoemann (RBI) and Nathen Martinez both went 2-for-3 at the plate but a walk-off single prevented the Warriors (2-7) a win downstate. Schoemann got a no decision on the mound but had a solid outing giving up 1 earned run on 5 hits to go with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks in 6 ⅔ innings pitched.
