Villa drops Agbonlahor amid 'internal investigation'
BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) - Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has been dropped while the Premier League club carries out an investigation, days after he was pictured in a British newspaper apparently smoking a shisha pipe during a break in Dubai.
It is another blow for Villa, which is in last place in the Premier League and is without a manager following Remi Garde's departure on Tuesday.
Villa said Friday that "an internal investigation is currently underway" during which time Agbonlahor will not play. Villa hosts Chelsea on Saturday.
The club didn't disclose the reason for Agbonlahor's suspension.
The Sun newspaper carried a story this week alongside a picture of Agbonlahor apparently inhaling water-cooled tobacco during time off in the recent international break.
