Baseball: St. Viator falls short in nonconference test

IC Catholic Prep came up with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge St. Viator's baseball team 3-2 on Friday at Plunkett Park in Elmhurst.

The Lions (5-3) scored the game's final run in the top of the seventh inning but couldn't quite tie it up.

C.J. West tossed a complete game for the host Knights, allowing 7 hits and 6 walks.

St. Viator's Cole Kmet had a pair of hits, and Tim Alfonso and Bryce Hellgeth both drove in a run.

Only 1 of the runs allowed by St. Viator starter Brett DeSelm and reliver Bobby Perna were earned.
