Baseball: St. Viator falls short in nonconference test
IC Catholic Prep came up with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge St. Viator's baseball team 3-2 on Friday at Plunkett Park in Elmhurst.
The Lions (5-3) scored the game's final run in the top of the seventh inning but couldn't quite tie it up.
C.J. West tossed a complete game for the host Knights, allowing 7 hits and 6 walks.
St. Viator's Cole Kmet had a pair of hits, and Tim Alfonso and Bryce Hellgeth both drove in a run.
Only 1 of the runs allowed by St. Viator starter Brett DeSelm and reliver Bobby Perna were earned.
