Weather service: Tornadoes touch down near Lafayette, Wabash

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - The National Weather Service says two tornadoes touched down in Indiana, causing damage near Lafayette and Wabash.

The weather service says no injuries were reported when the EF-1 tornadoes with wind speeds about 100 mph touched down Thursday afternoon.

The weather service says the tornado near Lafayette was only on the ground for about 50 yards, damaging a guard shack and construction trailer at a Wabash National facility on Lafayette's south side.

The other tornado touched down about three miles northwest of Wabash and skipped for about three-fourths of a mile, damaging a farm building and tearing the roof off a nearby pole barn, knocked a mobile home on its block foundation, and damaged a porch on a home and a wooden playground set.
