Jury in Vanderbilt case will head to Nashville on Sunday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - A jury of 14 people chosen in Chattanooga will be bused to Nashville on Sunday to hear testimony in the retrial of one of the four former Vanderbilt University football players charged with raping an unconscious female student in a dorm room in 2013.

The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1UIM38e ) reports the jury chosen Wednesday and Thursday includes a woman whose sister was sexually assaulted and a machinist who was arrested on an assault charge.

The jury will hear the trial of Cory Batey next week in Nashville. Batey is accused of five counts of aggravated rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery.

The jury was pulled from Chattanooga because of extensive media coverage of the first trial, when Batey and ex-player Brandon Vandenburg were found guilty in Nashville. A mistrial was declared in June.
