Lawmakers must quit feigning impotence
State representatives risk it all for what? State representatives and senators need to understand they are elected by voters not by party leaders who provide them campaign funding.
State government should be responsible to the citizens in services delivered and financial stewardship. But the state of Illinois government is not functioning in a responsible and efficient manner.
State representatives and senators have the power to move past the deadlock between the party leaders (bosses) and the governor if they band together. The system is built that way.
State representatives and senators have no excuse for passing the buck. They know what needs to be done, and need to start acting and stop pleading impotence.
The voters will speak, and have shown the willingness to switch between electing a Republican and Democrat depending on who they perceive as not performing or worthy of trust.
All state representatives and senators need to begin acting with an understanding of this reality.
