Girls water polo: Rolling Meadows moves into second-place tie in MSL East

Rolling Meadows' girls water polo team pulled into a second-place tie in the Mid-Suburban East by topping Buffalo Grove 8-2 on Thursday.

The Mustangs (7-3, 3-1) are tied with Prospect for second place behind division leader Hersey.

Sarah Luedloff, Grace Nykol and Emily Walters scored 2 goals apiece for the Mustangs, and Betsy Zanocco stopped 14 shots.

Buffalo Grove (4-5, 1-3) got its goals from Sarah Harner and Dasha Yermol.

• Hersey improved to 8-1 overall with a 6-5 victory over Libertyville in nonconference play.

Karolina Niemiec paced the Huskies with 3 goals.

Hersey remains unbeaten in MSL East play at 4-0.

• Conant led Mundelein 3-0 after the first quarter but ended up dropping an 8-5 nonconference decision. Nia Tsoulos scored twice for the Cougars (8-2, 3-1).
