Softball: Bartlett opens with win over Glenbard North

Elyse Hickey and Alyssa Nowak each hit home runs and Danielle Kirby, who had a double, allowed just 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and a walk in 5 innings of work as the Bartlett softball team opened its season Wednesday with a 7-3 win over Glenbard North.

Amber Pagan also had a double for the Hawks.

Blackman (TN) 9, Dundee-Crown 7: Jessica McVicker had 3 hits including a double while Claire Weeks and Kayla Sjodin added 2 hits each for Dundee-Crown (2-3). Maddie Pautz took the loss in the circle.

Kaneland 16, Mercyhurst Prep (PA) 0: At the Mingo Bay Classic in Myrtle Beach, Kaneland (4-2) pounded out 17 hits. Lexi Abruzzo (3 hits, 2B, 3 RBI), Morgan Weber (3 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Meg Cohrs (2 doubles, 3 RBI), Hannah Theobald (2B, RBI), MaryLynn Clausen (2B, 2 RBI) and Destiny Cowsert (2 hits) led the way for the Knights. Courtney Davis allowed 2 hits with 9 strikeouts for the pitching win.
