IceHogs' early goals enough to stop Chicago Wolves

The Rockford IceHogs scored a pair of power-play goals in the opening 23 minutes and they stood up for a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Wolves in Game 1 of the Central Division semifinals Saturday night at the Allstate Arena.

Forward Teemu Pulkkinen swatted home a rebound for a power-play goal at 5:31 of the third period to cut Rockford's lead to 1, but the Wolves couldn't get closer despite generating chances late in the Calder Cup playoffs opener.

Forward Tyler Sikura and defenseman Adam Clendening staked the IceHogs to a lead as the visitors converted two of the game's first three power plays. Collin Delia stopped 31 shots to earn the win.

Oscar Dansk posted 27 saves for the Wolves.

The Wolves and IceHogs head to Rockford for Game 2 at 4 p.m. Sunday. The series returns to Allstate Arena for Game 3 at 7 p.m. Thursday.
