Early offense carries Schaumburg to victory
Schaumburg's baseball team front-loaded its offense, scoring all 7 runs over the first two innings in a 7-5 victory over visiting Glenbard North in nonconference play Wednesday.
Andrew Ralston homered and drove in 3 runs, while Jack Bellinger and Tommy Larsen both had 2 hits and Parker Nolan drove in 2 runs.
Nolan was the winning pitcher, and Bellinger earned a save after allowing 1 earned run over 4 innings.
The Saxons (5-2) have won five of their last six.
Conant 10, Maine West 2: The Cougars (3-3) put together three big innings - 3 runs in the third, 5 in the fith and 2 in the sixth - to power past the Warriors in nonconference play.
Ryan Roberts went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI for Conant, and Nick Roberts doubled and drove in 2 runs.
Chasey Fahy started and earned the win for the Cougars, tossing 5 innings and allowing 1 earned run. Josh Pozniak and Ryan Roberts both contributed 1 scoreless relief inning.
Joe Swanson had a pair of hits for Maine West.
St. Charles East 7, Fremd 4: The visiting Saints produced 4 runs over the last 3 innings to pull out a nonconference win against the Vikings (2-1).
Fremd produced 10 hits, including a homer from Charlie Kaye and doubles from Tommy Wingen, Jack Molnar and Ethan Hajdukovic. Jake LaGasse, J.T. Kolderup and Kaye each had 2 hits.
St. Laurence 6, St. Viator 5: Jack Coney homered in the sixth inning as the visiting Lions rallied with 3 runs to tie the game, but St. Laurence answered with a run in the bottom half to claim a nonconference victory.
Coney finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and scored 2 runs. Dan Sullivan had a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in a run, and Mike Raugauskis stole a pair of bases for the Lions (5-2).
St. Viator starter Cole Kmet allowed 2 earned runs in 4 innings.
