Plano man charged with DUI after fleeing Aurora crash
A Plano man was charged with resisting arrest and driving under the influence of alcohol Tuesday in Sugar Grove after a crash near Orchard Road and Interstate 88 in Aurora.
According to Sugar Grove police, Robert Spencer, 35, of the 900 block of Wilbe Street, left the scene of an accident around 11:11 p.m.
The other parties involved followed Spencer to Route 30 and Dugan Road in Sugar Grove, where Spencer had stopped for a passing train.
According to police, officers found Spencer asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle. When they woke him, he became agitated and argumentative. He agreed to take a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content, but then held his breath.
Spencer was taken to Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora. He is free on a personal recognizance bond.
