The Elgin chapter of Izaak Walton League of America will welcome Larry Follman, outdoor enthusiast and Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 1855, in a discussion on "What's a Tree? What's a Forest?" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at the Hanover Township Izaak Walton Center, 899 Jay St., Elgin.

What has happened to this natural resource and what is their place in our landscape today? Discover what's a tree and what makes a woodland a woodland and not a forest.

Woodlands have been harvested for products for years, but neglect in restoration and regeneration have left the oak woodlands of northern Illinois in dire straits.

Learn how our woodlands work and factors impacting their survival.

Come for hands-on demonstrations and participation to get a new perspective on trees.
