Internet problems force USI to cancel spring assessment test

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Officials at the University of Southern Indiana have canceled a day of testing after erratic Internet connections over the weekend and into Monday.

USI spokesman Ben Luttrull tells the Evansville Courier and Press (http://bit.ly/1RHsMgf) that Internet issues were resolved Monday afternoon. He says spring Assessment Day testing won't be formally rescheduled. Instead Luttrull says individual department chairs can reschedule. Classes will resume at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Classes aren't scheduled one day each fall and spring so students can participate in the testing. Results are used for the school's accreditation process.

Luttrull says the outages were caused by a failure with a portion of the school's gateway software. He says no personal or financial information was at risk.
