Softball: Kaneland opens trip with big win

Morgan Weber had a home run, a double and 4 RBI and Courtney Davis threw a five-inning 1-hitter Monday to lead the Kaneland softball team to a 16-0 win over Socastee (SC) in the Knight's first game of the Mingo Bay Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Also contributing to the Kaneland (2-2) offense were Aly Jesionowski (3 hits, 2 RBI), Meg Cohrs (3 hits, 2 RB), Hannah Theobald (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Davis (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) and Lexi Abruzzo (2B).

Streamwood 15, Hoffman Estates 3: Jessica Daley (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI) and Becca Daley (2 RBI) each hit home runs for the Sabres (2-2) in this nonconference win. Becky Roncone (2 hits, 2B, RBI) and Melissa Hart (3 hits, 2B, 5 RBI) also contributed to the offense while Jessica Daley allowed just 4 hits in earning the pitching win.

DeKalb 11, Geneva 8: Katie Keller and Kaitlyn Piocinski each went 3-for-3 for Geneva (3-1) in this nonconference loss. Rachel Fanella suffered the loss in the circle. Annika Radabaugh and Alissa Dierks each had doubles for the Vikings.
