Southeastern Indiana woman dies, grandson hurt in ATV crash
WESTPORT, Ind. (AP) - Conservation officers say a southeastern Indiana woman has died and her grandson has been seriously injured after the all-terrain vehicle she was driving struck a tree.
Officers say 58-year-old Mary Romans of Westport wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle in the collision Sunday evening along a rural road in southern Decatur County. She was pronounced dead at the scene about 50 miles southeast of Indianapolis.
Ten-year-old Jacob Lorenz was pinned inside the ATV. Officers say he was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital and was in listed in critical condition Monday in a medically induced coma.
Officers did not say what caused Romans to lose control of the ATV.
