Elk Grove picks up MSL East victory

Elk Grove's boys water polo team produced 3 goals in the fourth quarter to earn a 6-3 victory over visiting Hersey on Monday in Mid-Suburban East play.

Adam Doruff, David Dragne and Nick Rosenorn each contributed 2 goals for the Grenadiers, who improved to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the East.

Brian Prior (2 goals) and Kris Donov (1) scored for the Huskies (1-6, 0-3).

Brother Rice 14, St. Viator 5: Junior Tim Bansfield stopped 14 shots in goal for the Lions in a loss to the Crusaders.

Junior Stephen Battin and senior Dante Cerone both had 2 goals for the Lions, and Matt Stack score once. Battin also drew 6 ejections.

Mundelein 16, Palatine 1: The Pirates dropped a nonconference game to host Mundelein, No. 12 in the most recent rankings by illpolo.com
