Explore 'Lords Park Golden Memories' April 3-9

Editor's note: The Elgin Parks and Recreation Foundation recently announced that two programs have been rescheduled. The skating program now will be held Sunday, April 3, and the baseball program on Wednesday, April 6.

During the first week of April, the Elgin Parks and Recreation Foundation is hosting its first series of "Lords Park Golden Memories" events at the historic Lords Park Pavilion, 100 Oakwood Blvd.

These free events are being offered to bring together people who want to reminisce about the great times they have had in Lords Park or learn about its storied history.

At 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3, Mike Bailey will present a history of Elgin National Little League Baseball.

On Wednesday, April 6, at 6:30 p.m., Betty Villella will talk about the popular ice skating program that took place on the Lords Park lagoons.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, Jerry Turnquist and others will give a history of Lords Park and its many features, including the museum, zoo, pavilion and neighborhood.

No preregistration is required to attend these events.

"Lords Park Golden Memories" is sponsored by the Elgin Parks and Recreation Foundation and presented in conjunction with the Elgin History Museum, Friends of Lords Park Zoo, and the Elgin Public Museum. For information, call (847) 931-6127.
