Children in colorful outfits and bunny ears scrambled across the lawn Sunday at First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights, grabbing plastic eggs and the treats inside during the church's annual Easter egg hunt.
More than 100 children participated in the holiday event, collecting more than 2,200 Easter eggs scattered across the church lawn. The eggs were filled with chocolates and other prizes.
"It takes us about a half-hour to put the eggs out and the eggs are swooped up in a matter of seconds, like a vacuum cleaner," said children's committee leader Jenny Bornhorst. "It's fun to watch and they had a really good time."
After running about and eliminating the landscape of eggs, children looked through their baskets, eating the candy and checking each egg for toys and trinkets.
