Baseball: Prospect makes most of its hits in 6-1 win

Prospect's baseball team made the most of its 5 hits on Saturday and came away with a 6-1 triumph over visiting Tinley Park Andrew at Larry Pohlman Field in Mt. Prospect.

The Thunderbolts had 6 hits and left seven runners on base.

Prospect scored all of its runs in the second inning thanks to an error, a groundout by Ryan Molini and 3 singles.

Richie Bazcek had 2 RBI for Ross Giusti's Knights (2-0), while Ryan Howe and Grant Whitebloom each had one.

Travis Gates also had a hit for Prospect.

Molini earned the win, giving up 2 hits, no earned runs and 2 walks. He struck out three in his four innings of work.

Teammate Brendan O'Brien went the final three innings, striking out three and giving up 4 hits.

Elk Grove 6, Wheaton Warrenville South 3: Senior Christian Camacho powered the visiting Grenadiers at the plate and on the mound.

He threw a 4-hitter with 11 strikeouts while also reaching base reaching base three times, scoring twice and collecting an RBI. He singled in the first and sixth innings.

Camacho allowed no earned runs over the seven innings. Elk Grove went ahead for good in the third inning on an RBI single by AJ Navarro bringing home Chuck Fleming.

Joe Lopez and Fleming also had RBI for EG while AJ Lorenz had a pair of hits.

South Elgin 6, Rolling Meadows 2: Host South Elgin scored five of its runs in the final two innings to notch the win.

Leading the Mustangs' offense was Luka Pavlakis (2-for-3) while Mark Nolan (RBI), Marco Perez (RBI) and Mark Dillon each had a base hit.

Huntley 9, Hoffman Estates 2: Kevin Howell, Luke Kulton and Ryan Kulton each had base hits for host Hoffman in the nonconference game.

Friday's games

Barrington continued to flourish on its spring break trip in Florida.

The Broncos raised their record to 4-0 on Friday as Patrick Dehnert collected 3 hits in a 10-6 win over Brewster (NY) in six innings.

Dehnert singled in the first and second innings and tripled in the fourth.

Connor O'Keefe got the win for the Broncos, allowing 1 run over 4 innings. He struck out one, walked two and gave up 5 hits.

Blake Swanson gave Broncos a 2-0 lead in the top of first inning with a 2-run single.

Barrington added two more runs in the top of the second.

Tristan Michaels started the inning with a single, scoring Jimmy Day. That was followed by Dehnert's single, bringing home Michaels.

Barrington added 6 runs in the fourth. Michaels doubled to score Day followed by Dehnert's triple, bringing home Michaels.

Brewster scored 5 runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit to four. The rally was halted when pitcher Brett Budzak got the third out on a strikeout.

Spring Ford (PA) 4, Buffalo Grove 1: Leo Rule and Ben Moran (double) each went 2-for-3 for the Bison in Florida.

John Carpinelli (1-for-2) had an RBI double while Mike Gran was also 1-for-2 for BG, which outhit Spring Ford 6-3.

Spring Ford scored all four of its runs in the top of the third inning.
